Wedding catering in Brussels: questions to ask before accepting a quote

Menus, staffing, equipment, allergens and timings: compare wedding quotes fairly and prepare your request through DEOLIA.

Choosing a wedding caterer in Brussels involves more than comparing a price per guest. Two proposals may describe similar food but very different services. Before accepting either, request a written breakdown of the menu, quantities, timings and responsibilities. This checklist complements our Afro-European wedding guide: it helps you compare proposals without assuming anything is included.

Which meal does the proposal actually cover?

Separate the welcome reception from the main meal. An arrival cocktail does not automatically replace dinner. Decide whether you want a buffet, a seated dinner or an aperitif followed by a buffet, then ask for the dishes, portions and desserts to be specified. Deby’s Delice presents MOYO, SAVANNA and ZÉNITH in its official private-client catalogue, with VAT-inclusive prices.

Who serves your guests, and for how long?

  • Which stages need staff: reception, meal, dessert and clearing?
  • Who sets up the buffet and clears the tables?
  • What attendance hours are included, and how are changes handled?
  • Does the proposal cover coordination with the venue and other suppliers?

Do not infer the presence of waiting staff from a reception photograph. Staff, drinks and options should be named explicitly in the quote. A change to your ceremony time can move meal service too: share the schedule when you first enquire.

What equipment does your venue already have?

Check tables, linen, crockery, glasses and on-site food preparation facilities. Ask who delivers, sets up and collects any hired equipment. Vehicle access, stairs, unloading windows and connections may affect the arrangements. A useful proposal reflects the actual venue rather than an assumed standard setup.

How are dietary requirements checked?

Share allergies and dietary requirements before choosing the menu. Vegetarian does not necessarily mean vegan, and a recipe without an ingredient does not guarantee the absence of traces. Ask which adaptations are possible and how they will be identified during service. The team must check what can be provided; never assume an adaptation is automatic.

How do you compare the final amount?

For a private wedding, use the VAT-inclusive consumer catalogue rather than comparing it directly with VAT-exclusive business rates. Separate food, drinks, staffing, equipment, travel and any venue hire. Check payment, amendment and cancellation conditions in the proposal you receive. An indicative estimate or online enquiry does not confirm a booking.
